Junior year: $4,000 Transfer to a four year institution and follow
Senior year: $5,000 that schedule.
Renewal: Traditional students must enroll in at least 12 hours the first fall
semester following high school graduation and at least 15 hours each
semester thereafter, to receive their funds that semester. They must complete
at least 27 hours their first year, and at least 30 hours each year thereafter,
with a 2.5 cumulative GPA. Nontraditional students may enroll in as few as six
hours and still receive a prorated scholarship amount. They must also
maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5, and their continuing eligibility
requirement is related to their semester enrollment.
State Grants and Programs:
Governor's Distinguished Scholars Program: Applicants must have a
composite ACT score of 32 or a SAT score of 1410, along with a gpa of 3.5,
or the standing of a National Merit and National Achievement Finalist.
If there is a county in Arkansas that does not have a Distinguished Scholar,
the highest ranking applicant from that county will be awarded a
Governor's Distinguished Scholarship. The amount of the award is $10,000
per year for four years. 300 applicants will receive this scholarship. The
deadline is February 1st.
Arkansas Future Grant:
This grant is designed to promote higher education, increase the skills and education
of Arkansas' workforce and attract students into a high-demand, high-wage
occupation. The grant will cover tuition and fees for qualifying Associate and
Certificate programs at public institutions for eligible students. The grant is awarded
on a first come, first serve basis and will allow for part-time enrollment.
Students need to apply on the Youniversal system.
Law Enforcement Officers' Dependents Scholarships: Undergraduates who are
dependent children or spouses of persons killed or permanently disabled in the line
of duty as a law enforcement officer, firefighter, forester, correctional officer,
Community Punishment Department of Transportation Department employees are
eligible to apply. This award pays in-state tuition, mandatory fees, and on-campus
room charges. The deadline to apply is June 1st.
Military Dependent Scholarships: Students who are dependent children or spouses
of persons who were killed or missing in action, who were prisoners of war or
permanently and totally disabled through military service. The award pays in-state
tuition, on-campus room and board, and mandatory fees at eligible Arkansas
institutions. The deadline to apply is June 1st.
The State Teacher Education Program (STEP): Eligible educators who are practicing
in a geographic and/or subject shortage area of the state and have outstanding
federal student loan debt. This award is $3,000 to $4,000 annually. Deadline is
June 1st.
Arkansas National Guard Tuition Waiver Program: Arkansas residents who are
active members of the Arkansas Army/Air National Guard attending a public
institution. A tuition waiver is awarded. Contact their unit to apply.
